Interview with Arturo Pizá

What message(s) do you want to express through your work? Everything that comes out of the body disturbs and frightens. I like to provoke and to persuade, but in fact I am innocuous, especially if I am compared with the gore fetish that reigns over the network. Perhaps is it an advantage.
Which artists inspire you?, who are your masters?
In fact, there is no hidden message, and no concrete message either.I discovered Gilles Berquet in a French version of Penthouse. Fate has decreed that the issue of the magazine was dedicated to him, a complete portfolio, a special edition concerning the publication of the book Parfums mécaniques. But how to forget Pierre Moliner or Jan Saudek.
What have you gained by being on the internet?Friends. And contact with other photographers and illustrators of realities very different from mine. It has been very interesting.
Did the internet enable you to meet new models, to find new exhibit places?A bit. One picture of mine has been published in a fetish edition of the box-mag. Thus, little by little, here and there.
Could you tell us a few words about the place you live/work in?I live in Jalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. It is a place with a fantastic, even suffocating vegetation. Unfortunately it is a town that only promotes what has to do with the “official art”, with the so-called “high culture”. Nude art is seen as offensive. A rather petrified concept.
